Smart
1952 marked the first time in Englands history that the uneducated were able to wear nice clothes, after a law requiring tailors to issue an exam upon purchase was repealed. Prior to this, the purchase of a new suit and subsequent failure of the exam led to the suit being partially destroyed.
To this day the link of nice clothes to intelligence persists, with the dapper being told that they look "very smart". Ironically, since the 1952, the opposite is more likely to be true.
