Quality Street

The circular toffee found in Quality Street actually started off as the long toffee. After 3 hours of manipulation in a grandmothers mouth, the sucked toffee is now a circular disc. When performing the manipulation, grandmothers need to remove their false teeth as these cause teeth marks in the toffee.
Currently Quality Street employ 76 grandmothers for this task, but with the onset of Christmas they will increase their workforce to 10,629. An average grandmother can convert 4 toffees a day.
