Ormand Street was awarded the title of "best street in England" in 1879, and officially re-titled "Great Ormand Street". Indeed it was the only place in London to actually lay gold pavements.

In 1801 the chocolate manufacturer "Great Ormand Street" had to change their brand name to "Quality Street" because the treats were deemed to "nott be goode enuff to sharre in the respectted opinyons of the publick of said grate ormand streete".
