Male actors are generally paid more than actresses. This is because the pay rate is directly linked to biomass.
Thusly, 'dwarfish' or 'skinny' actors are not cast because of the requirements of the screenplay, nor fashion, but rather because of Hollywood's cheapskate attitude towards pay.
