Hash Browns

Hash browns, while more of a golden colour today, were originally a dark brown colour. This was a side effect of the benzadrine added to them that would turn them a bright green colour if overcooked. When benzdrine became scarce during World War II, it was substituted with onion, and met with great success.

Hash Brown was also the name of an adult orientated cartoon featuring a teenage pot-smoking Charlie Brown.
