I didn't see this before. You're right that there can be too much of this stuff, but to be honest, I don't think there's a lot of it. And the site by its very nature is irreverent, so I don't see any need to censor it - it is going to offend someone at some point, probably the more the better, and I don't think it's strictly fair to censor it to tailor our sensibilities. However, you're completely spot on with regard to humour and subtlety. Being offensive for its own sake is not funny, and if it's not funny, it doesn't belong here.
It's not a matter of offensiveness for me, it's a matter of laziness. I'm talking about areas such as 'chavs = scum' and 'David Beckham = thick', it's dickbrained stuff we've all heard so many times, and nowhere more so than on the internet. If you're going to do it, just do it better.
The greatness of this place IMO is in the tone of the articles, the best stuff is surprising and awkward. Let's keep more toward that and away from hackneyed, amateurish dead ends.
Did either of you know that the drummer from CCQ is also named Errol Flynn?
