Ball Bearings
Ball bearings aren't manufactured, they actually grow as a crop on a farm in east sussex. The farmer decides what size of ball bearing is harvested by using a magnet on a bit of string. If the magnet can pick up the ball bearing then it is deemed "ripe" and the farmer promptly puts it in a air tight jar so it doesn't rust.
